Five Years Of Poetry Jam

We’d be surprised if you didn’t hear the roar of Poetry Jam V all the way from Erdington to Northfield on Thursday night.

When we set out to celebrate 5 years, yes, 5 years of Poetry Jam, we knew there would be no better home than the Birmingham Town Hall. The heart of Birmingham; the belly of the beast. Last night WAS Birmingham. 550+ people descended to the Town Hall with queues out the door to witness people’s transformation, hear their stories and dance to the beat of the Poetry Jam drum.

“Was a spectacular event! Really seamless and thoughtful”

We celebrated hard with 25 poets (51 sticking their name in a hat!). Guided by our host Bohdan, we were joined by wonderful BSL interpreter Rachel, party vibes amply provided by Chakraman, and a spine tingling opening video capturing the journey of the last 5 years by Paul Stringer. The launch of our community Anthology with Verve Press, Wild Dreams and Louder Voices, did wonderfully and if you didn’t catch a copy, you still can at Verve Festival or at Waterstones.

“That was beyond good! So glad to have witnessed such talent. Refreshing to see the Town Hall in such a relaxed and safe but creative and powerful way”

So… how does Poetry Jam Six at the Town Hall on 7th February 2019 sound?
