Free Radical has a rich heritage of transforming lives and places.
Formerly Beatfreeks Arts, this is where we started. From small groups meeting in coffee shops to now attracting audiences of 10,000 a year and with 3,000 young people going on to get involved as leaders, participants and creators in our projects across the Collective, we’ve worked with incredible Art Activists such as Sabrina Mahfouz, Deanna Rodger, Antony Anaxagorou, Joe Cook, Kamil ‘Kamikazi’ Mahmood, and Myah Jeffers. Since 2013, we’ve tested and played with new models of practice and new models of sustainability shifting our weight between the art, the activism and the business. We’ve emerged stronger, clearer and with a deeper commitment to enabling young people to transform lives and spaces.
"We’ve emerged stronger, clearer and with a deeper commitment to enabling young people to transform lives and spaces."
We’ve produced gritty, informative, emotive, gripping projects on a wide range of issues. #MakeYourMark, a poetry and storytelling battle to educate and entertain on the EU Referendum was fed back to Aston University and the European Commission to give them insight into young people’s opinions through to The Social Exchange with partners mac birmingham which is the Midland's largest festival celebrating youth social action and creativity for change.
