Successful facilitation requires experiential learning but experience can be terrifying. So, Sandbox was created. A once-every-two-month (kind-ish) event that offers a safe and practical space for creative facilitators. In this playground youth workers, teachers, and free lance facilitators are encouraged to test out ideas, build upon techniques, expand toolkits and share experiences with each other.
The Sandbox event offers two options:
1) To book a space and run a workshop/an activity (available times are 5min, 15min or 45min slots)
2) To just come along as a participant and join in the variety of workshops available and offer valuable feedback at the end of each activity.
The event itself is multidisciplinary. Each session is determined by those in the space and what they wish to explore. Due to it’s fluid and flexible nature, in the past Sandbox has reflected drastic artistic variety from poetry activities to yoga classes.
Each session provides a safe opportunity to build confidence by practically delivering a workshop and develop facilitation techniques by engaging in specific and supportive peer critiques.
It is also is a fun social opportunity and has been the foundation for many successful professional relationships.
So, before taking your workshops into the real world, test them in the Sandbox.
